Common questions
FAQ
- Who is this Introduction to the Mulligan Concept course for?
- The Introduction to the Mulligan Concept™ course at The Clinician Edge is for clinicians new to Mobilization With Movement™ — physical therapists, athletic trainers, occupational therapists, and chiropractors who want a hands-on primer before committing to the full Upper or Lower Quadrant courses. It uses material drawn from both quadrants to expose attendees to the clinical reasoning behind MWM, with roughly 80% supervised partner-lab time. No prior Mulligan Concept training is required.
- Is the Intro course required before Upper or Lower Quadrant?
- No. The Introduction to the Mulligan Concept™ is optional, not a prerequisite. Clinicians may go straight into Upper Quadrant or Lower Quadrant — those are the official Step 1 courses of the MCTA-accredited CMP pathway. The Intro course is offered for clinicians who want a lower-commitment first exposure to MWM before scheduling a full quadrant weekend.
- How many CEU hours does this course award?
- The Introduction to the Mulligan Concept™ awards 15+ CEU hours over 2 days. The Clinician Edge files for course-specific CEU approval by state and discipline; see the registration page for the current jurisdiction and certifying-body list. CEU certificates are emailed within five business days of course completion.
- Does the Intro course count toward the CMP credential?
- No. Only the four core Mulligan Concept™ courses — Upper Quadrant, Lower Quadrant, Advanced Mulligan Techniques, and the CMP examination — count toward the Certified Mulligan Practitioner credential. The Intro is a primer for clinicians new to MWM; it builds the reasoning foundation, but the credentialing clock starts with Upper or Lower Quadrant.
- What should I bring to the course?
- Bring loose clinical attire suitable for partner labs (you will be both clinician and patient throughout the weekend), a notebook, and a water bottle. The Clinician Edge provides all manual-therapy supplies — Mulligan belts, mobilization straps, taping materials where relevant. Brian Mulligan's Manual Therapy Textbook is recommended but not required.
- How are the labs structured?
- Roughly 80% of every Clinician Edge course is supervised partner-lab time. After a short technique demo, attendees pair up and practice on each other while an MCTA-accredited instructor circulates to coach hand placement, glide direction, and patient cueing. The Intro course follows the same model with simpler technique progressions so first-time MWM clinicians can absorb the reasoning before stacking complexity.
